We evaluate the efficacy and selectivity of herbicides for controlling weeds in turf, landscape, ornamentals, pastures, and industrial vegetation.

Research trials include evaluation of new PGRs for growth regulation of turfgrasses and suppression of annual bluegrass in overseeded turf. We also evaluate efficacy of PGRs for maintaining size and quality of landscape ornamentals.

We are evaluating turfgrass safety to new fungicide chemistries as well as efficacy for controlling major diseases of turfgrass.

Evaluations of insecticides, miticides, and nematicides including efficacy for control, plant tolerance and recovery. Highlights for 2025 included evaluations of programs for controlling bermudagrass mites, white grubs, billbugs, and nematodes.

Field evaluations include turfgrass establishment, quality, and performance of varieties from seed and vegetative establishment. We also evaluate the performance of new technologies and products designed to enhance turfgrass establishment.

We evaluate short and long-term effects of fertilizers under development for all major cool and warm-season turfgrasses.
